Starting Over

Hey there friends!
I am sure that you have lost all hope in my blogging abilities. I spend too much time reading all my friend's blogs that I never spend time on my own! So I am giving it another shot, but on a different site. So here is the address of my new blog:

http://web.mac.com/ministrycentered/

It is still under construction, I am still trying to figure out how it works!

Finally, Pictures From Our Trip To San Francisco

Here are some photos from our trip to San Francisco. For some reason I can't figure out what happened to the pictures I took with my camera, so all I had to choose from were the pictures from my husband's phone.

San Francisco

We had a great trip to the San Francisco area. The weather was wonderful, about 30 degrees cooler than where we live! We had the privilege of visiting with friends that just moved up to San Jose. We got to visit Napa Valley for the first time, that was beautiful and there are so many wineries. We stopped at a few for tasting and actually got to see some grapes being crushed in a big machine and one of the workers threw a bunch of grapes to us to eat! They were very tasty! Our friends dropped us off at our hotel in the city that evening. We did so much sightseeing, rode on the cable cars and ate a lot of good food! We realized there is a lot of waiting when you use public transportation, especially on a Sunday. Maybe we wouldn't have waited as much for the bus if it was a weekday. I will post a few pictures soon!

Hannah's Bonnet

I forgot to post about this cute bonnet I bought a long time ago! There is a fun website called Etsy.com where you can buy some neat things, mostly handmade or artsy items. One of the blogs I frequent, Renaissance, has a shop in Etsy and was selling this cute red bonnet. Hannah will wear it, but not for very long. But it looks very sweet on her! Thanks Rebecca!

Weekend Getaway!

This weekend we are taking a trip up to San Francisco! I am so excited to go somewhere new and to get out of the heat. This will be my first "real" trip to San Francisco, since the last time I was there I was probably about 13 years old and just passing through on a road trip. The first night we are going to stay with some friends in the San Jose area and then on Friday they are taking us up to the Napa Valley for a tour of that area. After that they will drop us at our hotel. If anyone has any suggestions on things to see or good restaurants please let me know!
Now back to my mounds of laundry!

Thrifting Challenge!

I have been known to complain that it is hard to find any good treasures at our thrift shops out here and there really are not any good antique shops. So when I saw this thrifting challenge from a blogger in the U.K. http://vintagepleasure.typepad.com/vintage_pleasure/2007/07/what-can-you-ge.html , I thought I would give it a try! The goal was to find as much as you could for under 6 pounds, which is equal to about $12.35 U.S. It so happened that three of the stores I shopped at were having their annual August half price clearance sale, so that helped me out a lot!

So here is what I found for about $12.30 U.S. dollars:

Vintage Table Runner $2.00

Apron with Blue Flowers 99cents

Embroidered Hankie With Beautiful Detail $1.50

Vintage Queen Fitted Sheet $1.00

Small Pink Covered Pyrex Dish (about 12oz) $2.00

Very Old Large Pyrex Glass Baking Dish $3.00

Small Stoneware Creamer Jug 99cents

Now I can take a break from thrifting and get caught up on the housework! My hubby will appreciate that.

Wednesday, June 20

I can't believe June is coming to an end!

I think that I just spent about one hour filling out an application on-line for health insurance. So many questions and so much trying to remember the last time we went to the doctor! So glad I am done with that! Hoping also that we chose the right plan. A lot has happened since my last post, which sounds kind of silly since my last post was only my second post and of course a lot happened since it was TWO MONTHS AGO! I am more of a blog reader than a blogger. My husband is officially self employed now, he took the big step last month and has been adjusting to working full time from home. It has not been easy for him, with a noisy 16 month old running around and missing his friends from work. The business is growing good and it will be one year old this month. You can check out Planning Center Online at the link on my blog. I am very proud of my husband for all of his hard work and genius! Well, Hannah is awake now and we are going to have a snack and then go visit grandma and grandpa. Until next time....hopefully sooner than last time!
